beowgrendel August 13, 2010 at 2:55 AM: Thomas Jefferson wrote his own version of the bible that excluded any evidence of Jesus’ divinity. How can anyone today, much less back then, pass off as a Christian when they don’t believe Jesus was divine?

No wonder in the Declaration and Constitution you never see the word “God”–you see “Providence” or “Creator”. The United States was based on secular deism, not fundamental Christianity as many on the right argue.
