Christian people always look at me like I have two heads when they hear that my main practice area is criminal defense. And even if they don't ask it, they think How can you defend guilty people as a Christian? I used to answer that question by saying that everyone needs a defense or that the American judicial system requires that an accused person be represented by competent counsel. After reading 1 John 2:1, I stopped saying that. Christ is our advocate (I even wrote a poem about it) . He never says to the Father, My blood doesn't cover that sin. So now I tell people that Christ shed His blood for the guilty, not the innocent. I tell people that if Christ could go through the torture and agony of the cross for EVERY sinner, then I can represent a guilty person…no matter how morally reprehensible I find their…

This past week I've been following a blog written by tchable entitled A Word Concerning Tithing. This is one of those topics which usually generates very strong feelings amongst people. There are people who believe this is something which we ought to do and there are others who believe we should not. The argument is that was part of the Law only and therefore does not apply to us. Hmm… the Ten Commandments were part of the law as well so does that mean it is okay to Never mind, that is another can of worms which I do not wish to open at the moment.Anyway, I got to thinking about why I pay tithes, give offerings or give anything of myself to God. Do I do it because I feel obligated to do so? Am I afraid God will strike me down if I don't? Is that my motivation?…

In religion more than in any other field of human experience a sharp distinction must always be made between knowing about and knowing. The distinction is the same as between knowing about food and actually eating it. A man can die of starvation knowing all about bread, and a man can remain spiritually dead while knowing all the historic facts of Christianity. This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. have but to introduce one extra word into this verse to see how vast is the difference between knowing about and knowing. This is life eternal, that they might know about thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. That one word makes all the difference between life and death, for it goes to the very root of the verse and changes its theology…

Four years ago, I worked in a state boarding high school as a language teacher . I felt I was stifling in that working environment. I do not want to give some bad comments on some socalled teachers, but their behaviors really beyond my understanding. according to Chinese traditional, teachers should be a model of students, they were also models of the society. However, what I could see was that at least 5 female teachers had their extramarital lovers in this school. On the one hand, they pretend to be a good wife in front of their own husband, on the other hand, they eagered to find extramarital lover to meet their extra needs. They treated it as a fashion. For example, two of them want to stay at home to receive salary on time and do not need to work, both of them developed sexual relationship with the schools…
