To clarify, we have a long-standing policy that only company-provided pins/badges can be worn on our aprons to recognize great customer service, store achievements, etc. In this case the issue isnt whether or not we agree with the belief on the button. Thats not our place to say and is exactly why we have the blanket policyto avoid having to make such a distinction. With 300k associates we have to have consistent rules rather than getting into store-by-store debates about whats appropriate.

He’s wearing a “One nation under God” pin for the soldiers. I’m a soldier and I don’t approve. He was asked to take it off.

BUT, clearly a man wearing a ignorant and narrow-minded pin is clearly being abused in this “Christian Nation” (which I’m fighting for)

To answer your question: Yes.

That’s understandable completely. If that’s the policy … that’s the policy and he should respect it. It’s reasonable. Would you ask a man wearing a turban to take it off? Just curious.

Um … ok … him wearing THAT pin for the soldiers doesn’t make any sense. If that was his excuse then it was lame to begin with. I’ll give you that.
But the rest of what you are saying to me makes little sense.
So you’re fighting for the rights of others to believe in something you don’t. Welcome to America!
Thank you for your service. I for one appreciate the fact that even though you don’t believe in a life after death that you’re willing to lay down that life to serve your fellow man.

maybe some day you’ll learn to respect those that don’t believe the same thing you do. At least it seems that you don’t by the way you talk about them.

Dress code is dress code…. he was warned but he upped the ante by bringing the bible also

Ya gotta love fox news. Instead of him saving money for college which is the reason he says he works there, he’ll be using that money to pay his lawyer for a frivolous lawsuit. Good job buddy.

People bring bibles all the time to work to read during break with no issues. When you bring such things out in the public eye is where the problem starts. Home Depot apparently doesn’t want to offend any of its customers who have different beliefs and has a policy for that reason. Its just that simple. Narrow minded people I imagine have a hard time figuring that out.

While at work you’re representing your employer, you can’t “pin” your beliefs/opinions on them without their approval.
If they allowed him to wear that pin they would have no legal right to refuse anyone wearing, for example, a swastika pin since it’s a hindu symbol.

It does not take a great deal of intelligence to understand Home Depot’s policy or why Keezer would be fired for insubordination.

Is this program supposed to be opinion or does it fall under the auspices of “fair and balanced” “journalism”?

This is stupid. Why fire a guy for wearing a pin? I understand its not in the dress code but neither is a fucking Hijab or Turban or Shemagh, and Muslims and Sikhs can wear them anywhere they work….hell, even the U.S. Army has decided to let a Sikh doctor wear his turban because he decided to take a commission in the Army. There are several reasons you shouldn’t be alowed to wear turbans in the Army, gas masks won’t seal over a bearded face, the Army stresses uniformity, not individuality, etc

Cracker Barrel will hire him…

fuck, if he worked in my state I’d hire him to work for me. Rather have an employee come to work toting a Bible than a kid with a shit attitude and no work ethic. This kid’s brother is in the service so I’d suffice to say this dude at least knows what level of committment I’d expect from him.

This kid does have a bad attitude. His employer asked him to do something and showed him the company policy and he ignored him. There’s the level of commitment you’ll get.

It would never come to that because I would never give a fuck about a damn button he wears. When i was a construction manager in Las Vegas, most of the retards employed by Home Depot were Emo kids wearing long hair and women’s jeans hanging below their asses. They couldn’t walk straight with them on. Home Depot’s got bigger fish to fry than worry about a button containing the words of our National Pledge of Allegiance.

Ignorant being “One Nation Under God,” because, well, we aren’t. There are many people who are either non-believers or are polytheistic.

Narrow-minded being that “Under God” was only added to the pledge in 1954. I don’t really care that anyone is Christian. I do have a problem with when it’s brought up that maybe something should be changed because, y’know, this is my nation too, that I’m trying to destroy your faith.

damn those communist, tree-hugging, socialist, marx-loving atheists.

Could it be this Home Depot where this kid worked enforced its dress code and there were no employees with jeans below their asses? Maybe he can wear any pin he wants at the Las Vegas Home Depot where apparently management does not give a damn about the dress code.

perhaps. That’s why these stories last one day. They are good banter for about an hour.

Dramphooey November 1, 2009 at 2:30 AM

Well, desu, you seem to think the employee should tell the employer what to do and that it is perfectly acceptable for the employee to defiantly ignore the employer so I tend to think you are closer to the communists or Marxist than me. I also cannot help noticing some say this Home Depot is violating freedom of speech, so they must think the government should tell this business what to do–uh oh, socialism!

Damn, you’re right, I did. For some reason, I thought this was a reply by the original on this thread, conspiracy777. My apologies; I jumped without looking.

It’s simple, he violated store policy, so he was fired, end of story. But no, these stupid red-neck theists can’t help but obsess over this and think that atheists are taking over the country when in reality we are the minority being taken over by them. By not having “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance, it’s not the same as saying “under no God.” It would simply be secular like it’s supposed to be, favoring no religious view including atheism.

It’s amazing how Faux News can take a silly non-story and spin it into some outrageous nonsense. Really fires up the mouth breathers. Whatever distracts them from buying up cases of ammunition in a fit of paranoia is fine, I guess.
