Yeah 9/11 wasn a horrid day for the world and to remove that from reality is my second wish (1st is no world hunger). Jon, i dont really like the location that their going to put it in but i agree with you if they want they can go right on ahead and build it if this really is the land of the free they should be able to put it where ever they want.
Jon, i dont think that they should build it at that location. Go ahead and build it somewhere else. the constitution says that you can have freedom of religion. Buy Obama wats to take away the arms(guns) away from the citizens, while the constitution says we have the right to bear arms. I think you know the reason right?
@sanandreas412 The mosque is NEAR ground zero not ON it. If the mosque is built a rebuilding of the world trade center would be completely unhindered. Also, your comment is the largest run-on sentence i have ever seen.

is it legal and proper? of course, but this is not the issue. Could you imagine if a Shinto shrine was proposed adjacent to the USS Arizona memorial? It would be outrageous! The Japanese would NEVER attempt to construct such a structure that would serve no purpose but a giant middle finger to those who lost their lives on that fateful day in 1941. For Imam Rauf to have the audacity to claim the mosque will bridge a “gap” is shameful.

As a Muslim, I’m at first against the construction of the Mosque because it is on the Ground Zero and can only creates the tensions like right now, it gave more reason to hate us. But later I found out that it is not On the Ground Zero, it is just near the Ground Zero with two blocks away. Mosque, Islamic religion, and Muslim has nothing to do with Al-Qaeda and we all do not support their terrorism. Attacking civilians is not Jihad, it is mere suicide and they just go straight to hell.
To all the bigots bitching about this mosque, there are already TWO existing Islamic centers CLOSER to the WTC site. This ‘circle of hate’ as I like to call it, will NEVER end until one side decides to be the bigger person, so I say WE take the initiative to be that better person!

This is just like building a Christian center in the middle east. Where thousands of Islamic and Jewish people were killed by Christians in the name of ‘god’. Yet, we Americans still go over there and try to spread Christianity to them. BUILD THE MOSQUE.
